Kaltura Media Retention
Kaltura is a media platform used to upload, manage, and share video content—including Zoom recordings—within UNM systems like Canvas and MediaSpace.
Below are details regarding the University of New Mexico's media retention policies in Kaltura.
Users who need to retain media that may be impacted by these policies are encouraged to extend its retention by watching the content, downloading their Kaltura media to a local device, or uploading it to OneDrive.
Retention Policy
To reduce the amount of unwatched, out-of-date content in Kaltura, older content that has not recorded a recent view will be removed if the owner fails to act after a notification period.
The policy above will be enacted starting in Spring 2026 and enforced at the beginning of each Spring and Fall semester.
Example: The first content removal will occur on April 26, 2026 (90 days after January 26, 2026 notification). Any media created before August 21, 2023 and not viewed since August 21, 2023 is considered inactive and will be removed unless action is taken.
